Dresslight, in collaboration with Swarovski, Etna and Padaung presented at Light & Building 2012
Once again, the company has participated in the German trade fair presenting novelties.
Etna is inspired by the ancient customs of tribes and ethnic groups, reminiscent of a didgeridoo, a wind instrument used by Australian Aborigines. The three suspensions of various sizes are made of machined hardwood.
They encircle a single hardwood block—the soul of the object. Outside, a tubular pyrex glass body transparently embraces and protects the wood with metal wires. It is a bold and enthralling combination in which wood, glass and metal find a perfect balance.
Etna is pure contrast: the clean, cool lines of glass offset by the warmth and nobility of wood, resulting in a one-of-a-kind piece.
Padaung, also ethnically inspired, owes its attractive design to the strong presence of its estructure, shape and materials.
Swarovski crystals lend a sparkling finishing touch to the whole. The lamp—featuring a circular structure of concentric metal rings—takes its name and inspiration from the giraffe-neck Padaung women who use rings to elongate their neck.
Swarovski Crystal Fabric strips beautify the lamp’s interior and also enhance the diffusion of light because the bulbs are placed at the same height.
